Our VP, Angie Wagner, is certified by the state of Illinois in headstone preservation, including cleaning and repairs. In the summer of 2022, she created a tutorial on how to properly clean a headstone. In the video, she demonstrates on John and Elizabeth Tilman’s headstones.
Please take extra care when dealing with such fragile stones, there are plenty of “cleaners” on the market, but they are not properly pH balanced and can do lasting damage. Remember the goal is to clean/repair the stone and DO NO HARM.
Supplies needed: D/2 Biological solution, lots of water, plastic scrapers, a soft brush and patience.
